We talked a lot about addiction
how sometimes it felt like your closest friend

you soldiered on ‘gainst your afflictions
but hoped it wouldn’t make us meet our end

I told you “never be embarrassed, never be ashamed to call - we’re rooting for you buddy, you don’t have to balance all those feelings in your swirling mind, please know I always have the time to help sift through it all.

You shone so brightly when you could quiet all your ghosts
but I’m sure it was exhausting every time you’d fall.
